Reclaiming the Body

Body-based practices can be a physical representation of change, growth, healing, and reclamation. For those who survived trauma or violence where boundaries were crossed, the body offers powerful ways to heal. Some people choose to change something about how they present to the world after a significant event. Clothing, gender expression, hair, and tattoos can be a significant form of reclamation. 

This is a story of a tattoo to represent reclamation. The process of choosing and getting a tattoo can be a way to enact personal autonomy and power.
