Most people have some places that are associated with a specific memory or memories. Feelings and memories may surface when they revisit that place, or even when they think about it. Some survivors choose to be intentional in how they relate to the place. The place itself can be transformed in what it means, and the way it is stored in the mind or body, when new experiences are associated with it.
Here is a video of how one survivor chose to reclaim the site of a painful experience and turn it into art and power. The story is told in two parts. In the first scene, they open a book that represents an old and outdated clinical approach that harmed them, and spraypaint the pages with a message. Scene 1
In the second scene, they walk with the book to the place where the clinical approach was used, and return the book to the place. Scene 2
